The Story Behind the Flag
In October 1775, Colonel Joseph Reed wrote to General Washington: “What do you think of a flag with a white ground and a tree in the middle, the motto ‘AN APPEAL TO HEAVEN’ — this is the flag of our floating batteries.”
Washington’s men were outnumbered, outgunned, and facing the most powerful navy on earth. They hoisted this flag anyway — a declaration that their cause was just, their rights were God-given, and no earthly power could take them away. By February 1776, six vessels of the United Colonies flew it. The Massachusetts council later formalized it as the official colors of the sea service.
Today it remains a symbol embraced by Americans who believe in constitutional liberty, limited government, and the enduring principles of the founding. It is also the historical flag of the Vermont National Guard.

💬 Why Do We Carry an Imported Version?
We’re proud to make our flags in the USA — and our premium Made in USA nylon version is our top recommendation for long-term outdoor display. But we know not every application calls for a $100 flag.
This imported version exists for a simple reason: access. Rallies, prayer gatherings, first-time buyers, gifting, kids’ rooms, classroom displays, seasonal decoration — these are all real, legitimate uses where a durable, attractively priced flag makes the message possible for more people. A family that can’t spend $100 on a flag can still fly one. A church that needs 20 flags for an event doesn’t have to break the budget.
We are transparent about what this flag is: imported polyester, suited for fair-weather and light outdoor use. We don’t hide it, and we don’t upsell past it when it’s the right fit. If you need the flag to last years on a flagpole in all weather, buy the USA-made version. If you need three flags for a prayer rally next weekend — this is your flag.
