This is the authentic Pine Tree flag flown by Washington's Cruisers in 1775 — printed on premium 200-denier heavyweight nylon and made to order in America. Single Sided: The design prints through to the reverse side, reversed and ever so slightly lighter — but very visible and perfectly legible. This is the standard outdoor flag used on flagpoles worldwide and is an excellent choice for most applications.
Double Sided: Two complete flag panels are sewn together with a liner in between to reduce bleed-through. Because the text reads correctly from both sides, this is ideal for locations where the flag is viewed from both directions — entrances, gates, overhangs, or anywhere wind direction varies. In October 1775, Colonel Joseph Reed wrote to General Washington: "What do you think of a flag with a white ground and a tree in the middle, the motto ‘AN APPEAL TO HEAVEN’ — this is the flag of our floating batteries."
Washington’s men were outnumbered, outgunned, facing the greatest naval power on earth. They hoisted this flag anyway — a declaration that their rights were God-given and no earthly power could extinguish them. By February 1776, six armed vessels of the United Colonies flew it. In April, the Massachusetts council made it official: "a white flag, with a green pine tree, and the inscription, ‘An Appeal to Heaven.’"
