About This Flag
The historical Puerto Rico flag features five alternating horizontal stripes — three red and two white — with an equilateral blue triangle at the hoist bearing a white five-pointed star. This version displays the traditional Azul Celeste (sky blue) triangle used from 1895 to 1952, believed to reference the colors of the Grito de Lares uprising.
