As the eagle soared over the field, fans began shouting "War Eagle!" — and Auburn won. The eagle died at the game’s end, but the battle cry lived on. Today, a live eagle named Nova flies around Jordan-Hare Stadium before every home game, continuing one of college football’s most beloved traditions.
